The diamond industry uses nanotechnology in the pursuit of complete traceability

Nanotechnology has proven useful in its mission to make the diamond industry as traceable as possible.

And this search has taken a step forward as Nano Innovator Holdings (NIH) announced today the completion of its original platform for end-to-end recognition of rough and machined diamonds.

The system is said to work just as well as the diamonds developed in the lab.

It uses nanotechnology applications, cloud-based storage solutions, smartphone optical systems and a proprietary application for smartphone users.

The NIH, founded by diamond industry veteran Bruno Scarselli, CEO, who has been developing this new technology for over three years, commented: "It has come a long way, but we finally have a scientific solution to diamond mining their sale in the retail market that everyone is looking for in the field of diamonds. "

The system operates via a proprietary nano tag, placed below the surface of the diamond, using femtosecond laser technology.

This does not change the purity or color of the diamond according to the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) rating standard

Customers can then use a patented smartphone smartphone app for Android and iOS phones to locate and read nano-labels beneath the surface of diamonds.

Buyers of a  diamond engagement ring will then be able to discover the life cycle of their diamond, regardless of their location in the world.
